Las Vegas, NV-San Diego, CA (Day 9)

August 25th Miles 2574-2920 Pretty long day today, but we were out pretty early, around 9:30. It was still hot though, very hot. I decided just to ride with a long sleeve, long underwear top to keep some of the air off of me rather than the black leather jacket (in retrospect that was pretty lucky cause the jacket would be awful in the traffic we’d later get caught in). I had the bandanna wrapped around my neck again, but without the jacket i started to lose it and ended up having to hold it in my hand for about 20 miles. The riding was still pretty tiring and slow going, I made sure to stop every 60 miles and rehydrate myself. Luckily no problems with my health or the bike today, but on top of the heat there was a lot of wind and I was getting thrown all

Zion National Park, UT-Las Vegas, NV (Day 8)

August 24th Miles 2410-2574 Well it’s not a road trip across the U.S. without a stop in Las Vegas! We spent the beginning of the day before heading out seeing more of the park. There’s a free shuttle that takes you to the major stops in the park, so we rode that to a few of the quick hikes with great views. Then it was back on the road, and it was HOT. Driving a motorcycle in the desert is not easy, and doing at 4 in the afternoon is even hotter. So with the temperature over 100 degrees (about 38 Celsius), we left the park. Keeping my hot weather tips in mind i put on my leather jacket to cover up any exposed skin (the air rushing by actually makes you hotter if it is above your body temperature) and soaked a bandanna in cold water and wrapped it

Zion National Park (Day 7)

August 23rd Miles 0 Took a break from the bike today to travel by foot. My friends and planned an overnight trip up the narrows which turned into a day trip because of some confusion with permits. It was still a beautiful hike though. We did about a 6 mile hike along “The Narrows” which is an amazing hike along the bottom of a huge canyon and the hike is almost entirely in the river that winds through it. It was a hike totally unlike I’ve ever done before and pictures should be up soon.

Grand Junction,CO-Zion National Park,UT (Day 6)

August 22nd Miles 2011-2410 At 6 in the morning today, I woke up to ATV’s ripping there way around not too far away from my site. Turns out the public land I was camping on was a popular four wheeler site. I kept going in an out of sleep for the next hour or so until my alarm went off and I got a look at the place where I had set up camp, a very scenic meadow surrounded by mountains. I packed up my stuff and headed to the harley dealership. As I was winding my through the different back roads of Grand Junction, I started to notice that my rear break had started to come back. It wasn’t completely back to normal, but it wasn’t completely flat either. I decided I should stop by just in case anyway. So after waiting a bit for them to open up,

Boulder, CO-Grand Junction, CO (Day 5)

August 21 Miles 1720-2011 Very eventful day today. After packing up and filling up on gas, I was 11 miles out of town when the bike started making a really weird sound, like a very bubbly and loud cough. So I pulled over to the side of the road into a dirt driveway to see what was going on. After looking around a bit, I noticed that my front pipe had come loose from the engine so the exhaust was coming straight out rather than going through the muffler. Somehow the nuts had shaken loose off the bolts. After calling around, I eventually found a harley dealership nearby, the mile high harley davidson dealership in aroura, Colorado, that could send somebody out to pick up the bike so they could fix it up. The only problem was that it was going to be a couple hours and I was pretty
